Providing intergenerational opportunities:
Andong is home to a community that was evicted from their land on the Phnom Penh riverside in 2006. Approximately one hour from the centre of the city, Andong residents struggle to make a living and as a result, extreme poverty, malnutrition and a wide range of social issues are rife. Our commitment to Andong is to provide long-term, sustainable opportunities for education and employment - to such an extent that eventually, we are no longer needed.
Andong suffered during Covid and we were there to provide emergency support. Since then, we're delighted to have seen a significant change in the opportunities available in and around Andong. During Covid, investment was made to infrastructure in the area and the urban-sprawl from Phnom Penh has provided new roads, housing and wealth. The strategies we employed in the early days has changed with the community over the years, as needs shift.
In 2011, we established Stellar Child Care Organisation (SCCO), our local Cambodian NGO. SCCO employs qualified, local teachers and social workers to deliver our initiatives. SCCO has MoUs with both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Interior in Cambodia.

All our projects centre around the role of education in eradicating poverty
Supplemental School ProgrammesThe opportunity to learn is something most of us take for granted but in Andong, it is a luxury many can not afford.
